Costa Rica Voted Among Top 10 Latin American Destinations by Travelers

This year’s TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Awards, which take into account millions of reviews from travelers all over the world, ranked six Costa Rican destinations at the top of the beach, adventure and spa categories in Central and South America.

In the Spa and Relaxation category, Arenal took 10th place in the world. The region’s renowned tourist offerings are scattered at the foot of an active volcano, with 5-star spa facilities taking advantage of natural thermal rivers, volcanic mud treatments and a beautiful rain forest setting. In the same category, within Central and South America, Arenal came in 1st, the bio-diverse beach town of Manuel Antonio in 4th, the remote surf town of Santa Teresa in 6th and the white sand Playa Conchal in 8th place.

Santa Teresa’s seductive waves and endless, wild beaches situated along the southern Nicoya Peninsula, won over readers to come in 1st place in the Beach and Sun destination in all of Central and South America. Manuel Antonio came in 3rd for this category, the Caribbean town of Puerto Viejo in 4th and Playa Samara in 7th place.

Arenal received further recognition in the Outdoor and Adventure category, coming in 3rd place thanks to adventure options ranging from canopy zip lines to waterfall rappelling. Puerto Viejo wasn’t far behind with its undeveloped shoreline luring surfers, backpackers and nature lovers alike.
